Supervisory Medical Technician
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Serves as Supervisory Medical Technician in a Military Entrance Processing Station, providing program oversight and supervision to Medical Technicians. This will be filled on a permanent basis. Responsibilities: Plans, organizes, controls and directs the work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities. Prepare schedules for completion of work. Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees. Evaluates work performance of subordinates; gives advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters. Recommends appointment, promotion, or reassignment to such positions. Interview candidates for positions. Hears and resolves complaints from employees, referring group grievances and more serious unresolved complaints to a higher-level supervisor. Disciplinary measures, such as warnings and reprimands, recommending other action in more serious cases. Identifies developmental and training needs of employees, providing or arranging for needed development and training. Finds ways to improve production or increase the quality of the work directed; and develops performance standards. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Performing and/or advising on a variety of complex test, procedures and examinations in a clinical laboratory; Maintaining quality assurance and quality control checks of test results; Performing phlebotomy on patients; Delegating tasks and providing technical guidance to medical technicians and/or medical personnel; Performing quality assurance reviews of applicant records and ensuring they include test result. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Education: No substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information: Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. Direct Deposit of Pay is required. You may be required to serve a 1-year trial/probationary period.
