The Health Technician (Pedorthist) serves as part of the Prosthetics Service Line at Minneapolis VA Medical Center - located in Minneapolis - MN. The work involves independent assessment of patients with all levels of disease and disability, formulation of a treatment plan, implementation of the treatment plan, follow-up of the treatment to validate outcomes, and refinement of the treatment plan to improve patient compliance and satisfaction.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
Be a citizen of the United States (U.S.) Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7407(a) Credential Candidates must be board certified in pedorthics by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics - Prosthetics and Pedorthics (ABC) or credentialed in pedorthics by the Board of Certification/Accreditation (BOC). Foreign education must be deemed equivalent to U.S. standards. Proficiency in spoken and written English is required. Grade Determinations:
Experience and knowledge requirements are detailed for grades GS-04 through GS-07, including skills in patient assessment, device development, and device fabrication. Duties
Major duties include developing pedorthic treatment plans, assessing patients, discussing treatment options with physicians, analyzing new technologies, taking scans and measurements, fabricating devices, and providing patient education. The position schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Compensation includes a competitive salary, paid time off, parental leave, childcare subsidy, and federal benefits.
