Mid-Level Software Developer

GovCIO is currently hiring for a Mid-Level Software Developer to support our customer, USPS and their Logistics Tech Services Group. This position is fully remote. The Logistics Tech Services (L&V TS) group is positioned to provide support to the USPS business groups within Logistics, Transportation Strategies, Mail Processing, Engineering Systems, and others. This group: Oversees the strategy, programs, and integration of business systems solutions for technology applications. Oversees the planning, design, development, acquisition, integration, implementation, enhancement, and maintenance of integrated business systems solutions for managed services. Directs the development of systems, application solutions, integrated environment development, and automated testing. Oversees the evaluation of trends and implementation of recommendations to improve and resolve discrepancies. Responsibilities include: Participating in the project planning process that determines programming and hardware needs. Assist or lead in preparing programming specifications and in developing coding logic. Prepare charts, diagrams, and other documentation as needed. Designing, coding, testing, and debugging computer programs, independently or as part of a team, using computer languages identified and available in the Infrastructure Tool Kit (ITK). Overseeing the consistent utilization of USPS development standards, procedures, and processes. Ensuring systems compatibility. Following data security procedures and identifying potential data security risks. Maintaining contact with the team leader, customers, contractors, and equipment vendors to monitor progress and coordinate varied project stages. Maintaining computer programs and systems. Revising and updating computer programs, procedures, and systems; including rewrites to the systems documentation and instructions as necessary. Performing other job-related tasks as assigned or required to support the duties outlined above. Qualifications include: Minimum of 5-7 years' experience in technology or software development and a Bachelors (or commensurate experience). Clearance required: Candidates must be US Citizens or Permanent Residents to obtain and maintain US Postal Service Public Trust. Working knowledge of one or more of the following qualifications: Agile Methodologies SDLC practices Change Management and Configuration Management (VersionOne, ServiceNow, etc) Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) Knowledge with the following qualifications: DevSecOps, Secure Coding practices, and the Solutions Development Framework (Docker, Jenkins, GitLab) Designing and developing event/message based application services using a message queue (e.g. Apache Kafka) Using automated unit testing and user interface testing tools, ideally in a test-driven-development approach. Use of source code management tools, ideally in a continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD pipeline) SecDevOps environment. API centric, microservices, serverless applications, or similar cloud-friendly application designs. Cloud Development with Dataflow, PubSub, or Redis.
