We are seeking a versatile aviation leader to oversee operations at our remote desert airfield and fly critical missions in support of logistics, test programs, and field operations. This hybrid role blends airfield management, aircraft maintenance coordination, and piloting across a small fleet in austere, off-airport environments.
Primary Responsibilities: Manage daily operations of remote airfield(s), including runway maintenance, visual/instrument aids, weather stations, and communications. Conduct inspections and ensure compliance with FAA guidelines and internal SOPs. Oversee hangars, GSE, fuel systems, and airfield infrastructure readiness. Coordinate aircraft movements, flight scheduling, and support visiting crews. Pilot aircraft (PC-12, Cessna 206, A32 LSA) for transport, supply, and reconnaissance missions. Plan and execute VFR flights; maintain documentation and flight logs. Track airworthiness, maintenance, and service bulletins; coordinate with mechanics. Perform minor inspections, repairs, and troubleshooting within qualifications. Lead or support part-time airfield staff; collaborate across Ranch, Test, and Logistics teams. Support aerial test events and high-tempo deployments.
Qualifications: FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate (SEL, Instrument); MEL, ATP, and CFI preferred. Class II (or I) Medical Certificate. 2,000+ total flight hours, including 500+ recent PIC hours in off-airport and austere environments. NVG and backcountry flight experience required. Experience with PC-12, Cessna 206, and LSA platforms; helicopter experience a plus. Familiarity with aircraft maintenance; A&P certification strongly preferred. Prior airfield or backcountry logistics management experience. Strong leadership, field logistics coordination, and cross-functional skills. Proficiency with digital flight tools, maintenance systems, and reporting.
Additional Requirements: Flexible to work irregular hours and surge events. Willing to assist with non-aviation projects during downtime. Highly self-directed, resourceful, and comfortable in extreme conditions.
