Overview: This role is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and installing plumbing systems and equipment. The Plumber I will respond to service requests, perform preventative and corrective maintenance, and support project upgrades. This is a hands-on, critical role that ensures the safe and functional operation of the infrastructure.

The ideal candidate brings 3–5 years of plumbing experience, strong technical knowledge, and a proactive mindset. This is an essential position that plays a vital role in keeping the campus safe, operational, and up to the highest standards of performance and compliance.

Key Responsibilities: • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance to identify and resolve plumbing system issues • Complete corrective repairs based on service requests and equipment performance needs • Install, test, maintain, and calibrate plumbing components related to water, gas, air, and sewer systems • Operate and troubleshoot equipment such as pumps, valves, traps, water heaters, emergency showers, and backflow preventers • Use camera systems to inspect and diagnose sewage line problems • Complete detailed work orders, log labor hours, and accurately document trade notes and follow-up actions in CMMS • Collaborate with central shops, contractors, and internal teams on campus projects and events • Assist with utility and equipment shutdown coordination for project completion • Maintain safety, sanitation, and compliance standards in accordance with university and regulatory guidelines • Participate in department safety training, inventory control, and zone-level support as needed • Support coaching and mentoring of Plumber I peers and contribute to team morale and performance • Perform additional duties as assigned and respond to urgent issues or emergencies when required

Qualifications: • 3–5 years of relevant plumbing experience in commercial, institutional, or campus environments • Must successfully complete a post-offer physical exam

Preferred Traits: • Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, classifications, tools, and materials • Ability to read and interpret blueprints • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) • Strong communication skills and professionalism with internal teams and external customers • Flexible and adaptable to support the trade with highest urgency • Ability to assess material needs, maintain accurate inventory, and sustain tool readiness • Familiarity with electronic inspection systems (iPod Touch or similar for PM checkpoints) • Understanding of safety procedures, sanitation standards, and plumbing codes • Ability to delegate, coach, and collaborate in a diverse work environment
