Role and Responsibilities

This is an intermediate level position involving technician work in highway materials testing and quality assurance. General activities include some or all of the following: logging and preparing samples for testing; routinely performing intermediate test procedures with minimal supervision; developing Standard Operating Procedures for various test methods; entering test data into the appropriate reporting software program or database; analyzing test data; extracting test data and preparing detailed reports and correspondence; and communicating with District and Contractor personnel. This position will be working in both the Physical Lab and the Concrete Field Operations Unit.
Specific duties include: Prepare and test laboratory and field samples. Log sample and test data into MAC. Review and summarize test results. Prepare test reports documenting findings and trends. Maintain and calibrate testing equipment. Review quality control plans, test methods, procedures, specifications, manuals, and other documents. Developing standard operating procedures for the testing of concrete materials. Inspect production facilities and precast concrete elements. Other duties as assigned. Preferred Skills • Ability to use a computer for word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. • Ability to perform field and laboratory tests. • Ability to communicate effectively. • Ability to work effectively in a team environment. • Ability to use engineering tools.
