Payroll & Benefits Specialist

Manage weekly payroll processing for multiple companies, including taxes, garnishments, and benefits administration. Ensure compliance with federal and state wage and hour laws, including FMLA, COBRA, FLSA, HIPAA, and related regulations. Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll and benefit-related inquiries. Oversee accurate processing of employee status changes: new hires, promotions, transfers, and terminations. Maintain strong relationships with external providers such as 401(k), pension, union plans, and insurance carriers. Lead the annual open enrollment process, including analyzing plan options and costs. Maintain and audit HRIS and payroll systems, ensuring employee records and vendor invoices are accurate and reconciled regularly. Collaborate with department leaders to support employment and staffing needs. Generate reports on payroll, benefits, taxes, and other key HR metrics. Optimize payroll and benefits procedures aligned with best practices and organizational goals.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent work experience. PHR or SPHR certification preferred. 5–7 years of experience managing payroll across multiple entities Proficient in
ADP Workforce Now, and RUN Powered by ADP Familiarity with
E-Time Enhanced Time and Attendance
systems. In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax requirements. Experience with HR system implementations or conversions. Knowledge of union contracts and their application to payroll and benefits. Excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
