Position Summary

Our client is seeking a dynamic and high-performing

Senior Staff Accountant

to join their mission-driven organization. This role offers the opportunity to lead both finance and daily operations while supporting strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will manage accounting across multiple entities, lead the monthly close, supervise AR/AP functions, GL, and oversee administrative systems and office operations. You'll work closely with leadership to maintain financial health, drive process improvements, and support organizational growth.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Finance

Oversee accounting operations, including AP/AR, general ledger maintenance, journal entries, and bank reconciliations

Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes

Prepare internal financial reports (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)

Supervise AP/AR team and enforce accountability via checklists and SOPs

Ensure GAAP compliance in a multi-entity, accrual-based environment

Maintain Yardi system integrity, troubleshoot GL issues, and support audits

Collaborate with Controller on funder and agency financial reporting

Office & Operational Oversight

Manage accounting workflows and coordinate with internal departments to improve processes

Support day-to-day AP/AR operations and ensure alignment with revenue recognition protocols

Strategic Engagement

Assist with cash flow planning and special finance projects

Support or lead payroll processing, benefits coordination, and onboarding compliance as needed

Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

3-5+ years of experience in a senior accounting role; experience in nonprofit, housing, or manufacturing environments is a plus

Proficiency with Yardi and Excel; experience with QuickBooks or other accounting platforms is beneficial

Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting

Experience supervising staff and managing administrative or operational functions

Detail-oriented, highly organized, and adept at managing multiple priorities
