Overview Please note that this position is contingent upon the successful award of a contract currently under bid. Nisga'a CIOPS provides hands-on experienced services to civilian and DoD programs worldwide. Delivering highly skilled, cleared personnel who provide services on five continents for a portfolio of customers. Summary: The Base Information Transport Infrastructure (BITI) Wireless Engineer is an on-site position located at McConnell AFB, KS. BITI Wireless is the enterprise solution to provide wireless information transport capability across the Department of the Air Force. The program offers standardized unclassified wireless services across numerous facilities and areas on Air Force and Air National Guard sites. The system supports CAC authentication, wireless intrusion detection and monitoring, and is centrally managed at Langley AFB, Peterson SFB, and McConnell AFB. The primary role is to support BITI Wireless capabilities at McConnell AFB. The engineer will provide on-site and remote engineering and integration services, including system architecture, solution design, performance audits, system reviews, documentation, and data migration. Additional duties include site audits, technical account management, managing third-party vendors, providing technical assistance and mentoring, and offering cybersecurity recommendations to support ATO within the RMF system. Responsibilities Essential Job Functions: Provide reports on tickets resolved and their resolutions to track common outages. Block network connectivity and remove rogue Access Points (APs) as identified by base NCCs. Manage current heat maps in Airwave Management System, including adding new APs and updating floor plans. Manage and administer all BITI Wireless equipment per the BITI HW/SW list and ATO guidelines. Support AF BITI Wireless users with system configuration, upgrades, and troubleshooting as a Tier 3 resource. Coordinate network changes and troubleshoot fixed wired infrastructure components. Create/respond to tickets related to device downtime and access issues, collaborating with local personnel for physical and logical connectivity troubleshooting. Guide users on proper client device configuration for successful network access. Work with OEM network engineers to isolate issues and recommend solutions. Assist with compliance inspections (e.g., CORA, Scope Edge, NETLAW). Provision and verify network connectivity for new and relocated access points. Develop processes for managing BITI Wireless devices. Perform emergency restorations at remote sites as needed. Maintain a database of all provisioned access points and controllers. Serve as a liaison between the BITI Program Office and NOSC. Travel may be required based on mission demands. Risk & Compliance Management Ensure compliance with DoD, Air Force, and industry security standards. Maintain operational readiness per procedures and policies. Assist in risk assessments and mitigation strategies. Qualifications Necessary Skills and Knowledge: Strong leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams to achieve results promptly. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Solid technical knowledge of network and systems infrastructure. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in mission-critical environments. Experience managing subcontractors, vendors, and technical staff. Familiarity with U.S. DoD & U.S. Air Force procedures and the AFIN network. Minimum Qualifications: A degree in a related field with at least 7 years of relevant experience or a total of 10 years of relevant experience. Experience supporting DoD Information Networks, AFIN, or equivalent. IA Technician (IAT) Level II Certification. Current SECRET (or higher) security clearance. At least two of the following certifications: Cisco CCENT or equivalent, with experience in routers, switches, and network fabric. Aruba ACMA or CWNA. Aruba ACMP. Aruba ACCA. Aruba ACCP. Three years' experience with Juniper & Pulse Secure NAC administration.
