Description Ideal Candidate Board Certified MD/DO who has successfully completed a General Surgery Residency At least 5 years of post-training experience due to the solo and rural nature of this position Interest in a practice that is GI-heavy preferred Ability to work independently and be excited about creative solutions for patients in our island community Willingness to do a small amount of Wound Care, as there is not a wound care clinic on island. There is a Wound Care certified RN on staff Practice Highlights Clinic Hours Monday-Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm 2 days of surgery per week (same hours) No weekends Call is 1:3 (roughly 10 days/month); 24-hour call for ED and Inpatients and any urgent surgeries RN/LPN who have been on the team for many years - the practice flows really well Good OR capabilities (no robotics) 3 ORs - 2 are staffed all the time / 1 Minor OR / Procedure room in clinic for in-office General Surgery procedures Visiting specialists for GI and Urology Epic EHR Experience Ketchikan, Alaska - a friendly, family-oriented community in scenic Southeast Alaska. Primary and specialty medical care is provided by PeaceHealth Medical GroupKetchikan and Prince of Wales Island. Our Trauma IV emergency department operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, staffed by physicians who are independent contractors employed by National Emergency Services (NES).
