Location: BOCES Admin. Building

SALARY RANGE: $37,400-$44,000 ( F/T salary range). Excellent benefits are available.
(There is not a current Civil Service List of Eligibles, therefore this position is open to
outside provisional candidates. Appointee must take, pass and be reachable on the next civil
service exam given for this title to be granted a permanent position.)

DUTIES: This position involves responsibility for performing clerical duties in the enrollment and
processing of employee benefits and worker s compensation claims/benefits. Coordinates a variety of
employee benefit programs and personnel information. Administers benefit programs including Health,
Prescription, Vision and Dental Insurance, Workers Compensation, Short-term Disability Insurance,
Unemployment Insurance, Retirement Benefits, Social Security, COBRA, and Flexible Spending Benefits
Programs. Duties are performed on behalf of the BOCES, its affiliated school districts, their employees, and
retirees. The Insurance Clerk, with assistance from providers, will advise on procedures for obtaining
maximum utilization and benefit from programs with the least cost to the consumer. The work is performed
under the general supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services. Other related
duties as required. Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel Databases is extremely helpful.

QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of at least 30 credit hours of study at a regionally accredited or New
York State registered college or university which must have included at least nine credit hours in business
administration, accounting or secretarial science; OR Graduation from high school or possession of a high
school equivalency diploma AND one year of full-time paid (or the equivalent part-time and/or volunteer)
experience in processing insurance claims, maintaining insurance records, or determining eligibility for a
benefit program using established criteria; OR any equivalent combination of training and experience equal
to, or greater than, that described above.
