Machinist
Summary: A machinist operates numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools such as grinding and milling machines to cut and produce precision manufactured parts. Machinists repair or produce parts using both manual and automated equipment with precise measurements based on blueprints and/or technical drawings.
Minimum/Preferred Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Solid working knowledge of machine tools/parts, set up, operation and maintenance.
- Previous experience interpreting blueprints, work orders and manuals.
- Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GDandT).
- Ability to read, write, speak, and effectively communicate in English.
- Intermediate math skills for measurement, testing and problem resolution.
Job Responsibilities/Duties:
- Fabricate and repair aerospace component parts by utilizing CNC, VTL, milling machines and lathes.
- Use inspection tools such as micrometers (ID/OD/depth) calipers, pi tapes, hand tools, layout tools, grinders, drills, wrenches, and mallets.
- Inspect parts per requirements to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Change cutting tools and adjust machine feeds and speeds as needed.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment.
- Complete required inspection documentation reports.
