Assistant Machinist

Welcome to the world of precision at Power Design! As an Assistant Machinist on our team, you'll be at the helm of cutting-edge machinery, including CNC Fiber Laser, Press Break, Ironworker, Laser Welder, Paint Booth, and Oven. Your role? Masterfully cut, bend, and form the metal needed to fabricate top-notch electrical switchboards and junction boxes, as well as perform sub-assembly and assembly operations to put all the pieces together into the final product.

Position Responsibilities

  • Operate the CNC 12KW Fiber Laser machine to cut sheet metal and copper
  • Prepare work required from the project drawings, assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists
  • Gather parts and sub-assemblies from templates, standardized drawings, or specific project drawings
  • Assemble the components according to the templates, specified measurements, or specific drawings
  • Examine connections for correct fit, as well as fasten and assemble components into the finished product

Here's What We're Looking For

  • Minimum High School Diploma and 1 year of experience working on Laser machines, press brakes, welding, or other metal machining equipment
  • Proficiency operating a press brake machine used to bend and form steel required for the end product (Piranha Press Brake experience a plus)
  • Experience setting up and operating Fiber Lasers, Press Brakes, and IronWorkers, as well as welding steel components
  • Motivated individual interested in learning Electrical Equipment Fabrication with the desire to be cross trained in all aspects of switchboard fabrication
  • Ability to physically perform the essential functions of the job
  • Willing to learn electrical codes, UL specifications, and other construction safety requirements
  • Ability to operate a variety of machinery and meet the physical requirements necessary
