OrthoIndy Anesthesiologist Position

We will have a full time Anesthesiologist position available with our growing organization at our future Franciscan OrthoIndy Ambulatory Surgery Center to open in West Lafayette, Indiana in late 2025. We are looking for candidates with an interest in orthopedics and strong experience with regional anesthesia required. Schedule will be weekdays; flexible vacation. No in-house call; rarely called in. 99% elective, ASA 3 or less cases.

General Statement Of Duties
OrthoIndy's Anesthesiologist Physician is responsible for administering anesthetics prior to, during, or after surgery or other medical procedures at a premier orthopedic ambulatory surgery center. Cases primarily include total joint replacement, hand and upper extremity, sports medicine, shoulder, arthroscopy, foot and lower extremity, and general orthopedics.
Essential Duties
- Administers anesthetic or sedation during medical procedures, using local, intravenous, spinal or caudal methods. Monitors patients before, during, and after anesthesia and counteract reactions and complications. Monitors patient's vital signs during procedures. Coordinates administration of anesthetics with surgeons during operation.
- Provides medical care and consultations in many settings, prescribing medication and treatment and referring patients for surgery.
- Records type and amount of anesthesia and patient condition throughout procedure.
- Confers with other medical professionals to determine type and method of anesthetic or sedation to render patients insensible to pain. Coordinates with other Physicians, nurses, technicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Provides and maintains life support and airway management and helps prepare patients for surgery.
- Examines patients, obtains medical history, and uses diagnostic tests to determine risk during surgical and other medical procedures. Orders lab tests, imaging, or other diagnostic procedures.
- Monitors patient's post-surgery and determines when they are stabilized enough to move to another room or go home.
- Educates patients and families on post-procedures care and possible complications. Instructs on different ways to prevent disease and improve health.
Requirements
- MD or DO required
- Indiana State licensure required
- Specialty Board Certified/eligible
- Board certification by the ABA required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a private group anesthesia practice
- Fellowship in regional anesthesia desirable. Must be proficient in regional blocks.
