Labor And Delivery Nurse

Labor and delivery nurses care for women during labor and childbirth, monitoring the baby and the mother, coaching mothers and assisting doctors. They prepare women, and their families, for the stages of giving birth and help patients with breastfeeding after the baby is born. In addition to assisting women throughout labor and the birthing process, labor and delivery nurses care for women who experience complications with their pregnancies and assist surgeons during cesarean deliveries. Labor and delivery nurses can work in a variety of settings such as hospital delivery rooms, physician's offices, birthing centers, and community clinics. Labor and delivery nurses may be asked to float to postpartum or mother baby due to census.
