Nemours is seeking a Registered Nurse for our general pediatrics stepdown unit to join our team in Wilmington, Delaware . This position is casual, 48 hrs in 6 weeks, rotating shifts, with weekend and holiday rotation.

3 East is a surgical intermediate unit with patients requiring post-operative care for urological issues, traumatic injuries, and general surgery. The unit also cares for patients with acute and end-stage renal disease, tracheostomy, or ventilator needs. Each patient room is equipped with oxygen, compressed air, suction, and advanced cardiorespiratory monitors and computers for electronic medical record access. The patient care complexity requires diverse nursing skills. The unit aims to provide high-quality, cost-effective care, using the Synergy model for patient assignments based on needs and skills.

Special equipment includes infusion pumps, syringe pumps, feeding pumps, BiPap respirators, oxygen delivery methods, PCA & epidural pumps, wound vacutainers, ventilators, and specialty beds. Nursing competencies include chest tube management, pain management, blood product administration, urinary catheterization, tracheostomy and ventilator care, and central line management.

Qualifications:

  • Passionate about pediatrics and professional nursing
  • BSN preferred; if holding an associate's degree, must obtain BSN within three years
  • Pediatric experience preferred
  • Minimum 6 months of nursing experience
  • Bilingual skills preferred
  • Eligible for or current DE nursing license
  • Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association
