Experienced CNC Machinist

Our Machinists in Mount Vernon work on large-scale, multi-axis CNC mills and lathes to machine one-of-a-kind precision components for naval nuclear reactors used in submarines and aircraft carriers. This is a low-volume, highly-engineered manufacturing environment, where you'd be involved in the full life cycle of the build. You'll work in a safe, clean, and highly-specialized manufacturing environment alongside a great team of skilled colleagues. This is unique work that will allow you to demonstrate your machining skills all while supporting the safety of our nation's sailors.

Due to the importance of quality in our shop, all of our machinists start out with paid on the job training and mentoring prior to working alone. Our machinists work a four-day work week while receiving market leading pay, paid time off, medical, dental, vision and service based retirement contributions with additional 401k match. Overtime is required but flexible in how it is achieved. Additional overtime work is also available if desired. Our machinists receive shift premium for second shift work and premium pay like double time based on hours/days worked in a week. We are also currently offering a sign-on bonus of $2,000. Relocation assistance is available for qualified applicants.

In this role, you will set up and operate CNC machine tools to perform various types of machining operations such as milling, drilling, tapping/thread milling, boring, and turning in order to meet print specifications. Additionally, you would:

  • Use precision measuring equipment to verify products meet customer requirements and product specifications
  • Work to .001" tolerance and 16 microfinish when necessary
  • Write/edit programs using both G and M coded controls (experience with Siemens and Fanuc controls preferred)
  • Troubleshoot challenges with support of on-site engineering
  • Routinely read and comprehend written instructions, technical procedures, prints, sketches, and bills of material
  • Work in a team environment by assisting the CNC Programmer as necessary to develop and/or test run programs
  • Use advanced mathematical skills to calculate proper speed and feed rates
  • Operate crane or assist with the rigging and moving of parts
  • Maintain clean work area and daily housekeeping duties
  • Collaborate and communicate with opposite shift through face-to-face carryover and log books
  • Work with tooling application engineers to devise optimum tooling design and practices
  • Work in accordance with all applicable company procedures, policies and rules

What We Need from You:

  • High school equivalency with a minimum of four (4) years relevant experience.
  • Associate's of Applied Science degree in Machining Tool and Die or equivalent training plus two (2) years of on-the-job experience may be considered in lieu of experience.
  • Experience machining parts greater than 8-feet diameter and 10-tons is preferred.
  • Experience with different machining attachments (i.e. right angle, universal, offset milling) is preferred.
  • Experience with grinders, tool setters, jacks, clamps, bolts, shims, jigs, fixtures, angle plates, rules, micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, gages, levels, protractors, verniers, and light hand tools.
  • Ability to maintain detailed records; ability to complete process documentation and other production records.
  • Ability to work any shift, to include nights and weekends.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) is preferred.
  • U.S. citizenship with no dual citizenship is required for this position.

Pay: $75,797.10 - $75,797.10

The base salary range for this position in Indiana (US-IN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $75,797.10 and $75,797.10 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,' unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
