Zepf Center has been serving the Lucas County community for over 50 years. We are the leading provider of behavioral health and substance use disorder services in Northwest Ohio. Services include adult and child psychiatric, substance abuse, case management, residential, Crisis Care, and therapy programs, as well as career development and wellness services. Zepf Center also offers primary care medical services to our patients to contribute to their continuum of care. Zepf Center is a trauma-informed agency and environment for both patients and staff.
General Summary:
This position is under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing. The individual will assist the Director of Nursing with medical oversight specifically regarding medication self-administration and other medical needs within Recovery Housing, Group Homes, SUD Residential and Safety Net.
Hours: Four, 10-hour weekly shifts; 7:00am - 5:00pm with every third weekend
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Administrative Duties

  • Maintain accurate patient records in the electronic health record system, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA regulations.
  • Answer and/or triage patient calls and communicate with appropriate practitioner/provider follow up within allotted time frame as outlined in agency standards.
  • Conduct medication, medication room, and MAR audits for self-administration of medication clients
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments with providers
  • Update patient charts in MAR and EHR when medication is adjusted or discontinued
  • Coordinate with pharmacies regarding patient's medication and complete prior authorizations as necessary
  • Care coordination with various departments in the agency including withdrawal management and recovery housing
Clinical Support
  • Assist and provide support for the clinical and/or administrative staff within scope of practice.
  • Perform basic clinical tasks such as vital signs, checking blood pressure and blood sugar.
  • Assist in coverage for call offs or staffing within Withdrawal Management and OBOT
  • Assist with self-administration of medication at Recovery House & Residential if needed.
Inventory and Supply Management
  • Perform monthly AED, First Aid Kit, and Crash Bag checks and record in logs as indicated.
  • Responsible for ordering medical and office supplies for the unit including urinalysis supplies, over the counter medications, and basic first aid supplies
  • Assist DON in medication destruction and monitoring Narcotic Count Verification binder
Education and Support
  • Educate patients on follow-up care, medication instructions, and general health maintenance as directed
  • Educate staff on proper medication protocols to ensure compliance.
Supportive Duties
  • Maintain active communication with all agency treatment components to ensure patients' smooth transitions throughout the continuum of care.
  • Follow up on requested labs and Millennium orders to facilitate communication with the provider and the patient.
  • Liaison between medical providers and clinical staff to ensure patient's needs are met
  • Complete ROIs for continuity of patient care.
Compliance and Safety
  • Adhere to infection control procedures and follow sanitation protocols
  • Participate in ongoing training and stay updated on medical protocols and best practices
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Position Qualifications:
  • Medical Assistant Certification required and previous experience working with the SPMI/SUD population is preferred.
  • Maintain Certification equivalent or higher.
