As a Patient Care Technician, you will be part of the patient care team supporting individuals undergoing dialysis treatment. nPatient Care & Treatment:

Greet and assess patients before and after dialysis sessions.

Set up and operate hemodialysis machines, ensuring accurate programming and safety alarms.
n n - n
Perform vascular access evaluations, cannulation, and administer heparin as permitted.
n n - n
Monitor and document vital signs, treatment parameters, and patient responses.
n n - n
Initiate and discontinue dialysis treatments per physician orders and protocols.
n n - n
Obtain lab specimens and ensure proper handling and documentation.

Education & Support:

Assist in patient education on dialysis adequacy measures and treatment options.
n n - n
Support patients in understanding home dialysis modalities and transitional care processes.
n n - n
Monitor self-care patients under RN supervision.
n n
Environment & Safety:

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized treatment area.
n n - n
Follow infection control protocols and participate in audits and education.
n n - n
Conduct machine safety checks and respond to unusual patient conditions.

Documentation & Compliance:

Accurately complete treatment sheets, progress notes, and electronic records.
n n - n
Prepare patient charts, lab requisitions, and ensure proper documentation review.

Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities.

Transitional Care Unit (TCU):

- n
Support new patients during their first 4 weeks of dialysis.
n n - n
Coordinate care and education across disciplines.
n n - n
Assist with supply management and modality transitions.
n n
Qualifications:

- n
High School diploma or GED required.
n n - n
1 year of dialysis PCT experience within the last 2 years required.
n n - n
CPR Certified (BLS, ACLS) through an accredited institution
n n - n
Must meet CMS-approved certification requirements within designated timelines.
n n - n
CCHT or BONENT certified beneficial
n n - n

Physical Requirements:

Frequent standing, bending, and lifting (up to 40 lbs).

Exposure to healthcare environments and infectious materials.

Must pass Ishihara Color Blindness test (does not preclude employment).
