Job Title: Lead Civil/Structural Engineer - Nuclear Infrastructure Projects

Location: Oak Ridge , Tennessee

Type: Direct Hire

Compensation: $90,000 - $120,000 annually

Contractor Work Model: Onsite

Do you have a Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and a PE license? System One is seeking a Lead Civil/Structural Engineer to take charge of complex infrastructure and facility projects, turning concepts into reality. In this role, you'll lead the structural and civil engineering scope of a major nuclear project, acting as both a technical authority and a team leader.

From initial design through execution, your work will ensure every structure is resilient, code-compliant, and built to last. You'll collaborate across disciplines to deliver fully integrated, high-performance solutions - and your decisions will have a direct impact on the success of one of the most ambitious engineering efforts in the industry.

Key Responsibilities

Lead structural design and analysis for buildings, industrial facilities, and critical civil infrastructure.

Serve as the technical authority on structural systems, mentoring junior engineers and reviewing critical deliverables.

Oversee and coordinate the work of the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor to ensure compliance with design intent, safety, schedule, and quality.

n
Ensure all designs meet key industry codes and standards (IBC, AISC, ACI, ASCE).
n
n
Collaborate with architects, geotechnical engineers, and other disciplines to deliver cohesive designs.
n
n
Review and approve calculations, construction drawings, technical specifications, and reports.
n
n
Conduct site visits, field assessments, and structural inspections during design and construction.
n
n
Anticipate, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical challenges.
n

Requirements

n
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's preferred).
n
n
6+ years of progressive civil/structural engineering experience.
n
n
Proven leadership experience on large-scale, multidisciplinary projects.
n

Licenses & Certifications

n
Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
n
n
Structural Engineer (SE) license preferred (where applicable).
n

Skills & Competencies

n
Proficiency with structural analysis/design software (SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, ETABS, RISA, ANSYS, etc.).
n
n
Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards (IBC, AISC, ACI, ASCE 7).
n
n
Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills.
n
n
Proven ability to lead teams and work effectively with clients.
n
n
Detail-oriented with exceptional problem-solving capabilities.
n
