The Random House Group at Penguin Random House is seeking a Senior Publicist or Publicity Manager to join our talented and mission-driven team, supporting the Harmony, Rodale Books, and Convergent Books imprints. These imprints publish impactful titles across a wide spectrum of nonfiction genres—including health and wellness, lifestyle, business empowerment, spirituality and faith, parenting, and prescriptive narrative nonfiction.nnWe’re looking for a creative and strategic publicity professional with experience leading national media campaigns. You’ll be responsible for independently managing publicity efforts for a diverse list of authors and creators—bringing enthusiasm, vision, and deep media knowledge to each campaign. This role reports to the VP & Senior Director of Publicity.nnSpecific responsibilities include:nnLead, develop, and execute strategic publicity campaigns for frontlist and select backlist titles across the three imprints—building visibility through traditional and digital media, events, and influencer engagement.nDeliver high-touch author care, serving as the primary point of contact throughout the campaign. Communicate effectively and consistently with authors, agents, and publishing stakeholders.nPitch and secure coverage with top-tier national and regional broadcast, print, podcast, and online media, including outlets focused on wellness, spirituality, lifestyle, and business.nWrite impactful press materials, including press releases, media alerts, talking points, and original pitches tailored to each author and title.nPlan and oversee author tours and event appearances, including travel logistics, bookstore coordination, and local media outreach.nCollaborate closely with marketing, editorial, and sales teams to ensure integrated campaigns that align with imprint goals and author brand positioning.nRepresent titles and campaigns in internal publishing meetings and cross-functional team discussions.nManage budgets and campaign expenses, ensuring timely processing of invoices and adherence to financial guidelines.nTrack campaign performance and stay up to date on industry trends and evolving media landscapes.nnPlease apply if you meet the following qualifications:nn5–7 years of experience in book publicity or a closely related field; preference for experience with nonfiction and prescriptive titles in categories such as wellness, spirituality, lifestyle, parenting, or business.nDemonstrated success leading media-forward, author-focused campaigns with national reach.nA strong network of media contacts across various platforms, with a proven ability to pitch effectively and creatively.nExceptional written and verbal communication skills; persuasive, strategic, and confident in both pitching and presenting.nHighly organized with the ability to manage multiple simultaneous campaigns, authors, and deadlines.nStrong interpersonal and relationship-building skills; a collaborative team player and proactive self-starter.nExperience coordinating author travel, events, and multi-city tours.nFamiliarity with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with publicity platforms such as MuckRack, Cision, NetGalley, and Canva is a plus.nKnowledge of the media landscape and a passion for nonfiction that informs, inspires, and empowers readers.nnSalary for this role will be dependent on experience. For Sr. Publicist, the range is $73,500 -$75,000 with a minimum requirement of 5 years’ publicity experience. For Publicity Manager, the range is $78,000 - $85,000 with a minimum requirement of 6-7 years’ publicity campaign experience. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.nnThis is a hybrid position based in New York, NY. The candidate should be available to work in-office and attend in-person meetings, strategy sessions, and author events.
