Accounting Assistant
The Accounting Assistant provides support to the Finance Department by performing a variety of clerical and administrative tasks. This position is responsible for assisting with daily accounting functions, including data entry, record keeping, invoice processing, and reconciliation support. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle confidential information with integrity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with entering financial transactions into accounting software accurately and in a timely manner
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed
- Help prepare invoices, statements, and financial documents
- Maintain organized and up-to-date filing systems (both digital and physical)
- Reconcile receipts and assist with bank and account reconciliations
- Assist in tracking and reconciling company credit card expenses
- Perform clerical duties such as photocopying, scanning, mailing, and data entry
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
- Provide administrative support to the Controller and Finance team as requested
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- 1-2 years of experience in an office or accounting environment preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
- Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) a plus
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Ability to handle confidential information professionally
Work Environment:
This position operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, and filing cabinets.
