Job Description
Position involves is moderately complex, specialized clerical work responsible for the receipt of revenue for city services, licenses, and fees, for the maintenance of customer sewer and garbage accounts and the issuance of city business registrations.

Job Description
Position involves is moderately complex, specialized clerical work responsible for the receipt of revenue for city services, licenses, and fees, for the maintenance of customer sewer and garbage accounts and the issuance of city business registrations.
Typical Duties
- Receives incoming cash from customers or by mail, counts money, and prepares receipts as required.
- Receives report of daily receipts, balances with cash received.
- Receives payments for all city services and required license, permits, and fees, such as sewer tap fees, subdivision fees, liquor licenses, park facility rentals, etc.
- Submits insufficient checks to third party collection firm.
- Calculates refuse and sewer rates charged to individual customers based on established ordinances and procedures, calculates assessment pay-off.
- Provides information to general public on proper procedures to obtain a business registration and issues business registrations.
- Researches records to determine legal owner to update billing records.
- Assists and advises customers with problems or misunderstandings concerning their sewer and refuse bills and assessments.
- Greets visitors to City Hall directing to the proper office or department.
- Provides information to real estate agents and abstractors concerning outstanding debts and assessments against properties.
- Prepares affidavits for write-off of customer sewer and refuse accounts due to vacancy.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Course work in computer science, typing or related subjects.
- Two years clerical or general bookkeeping experience; or equivalent.
- New Mexico Class "D" driver's license, equivalent of higher.
Knowledge of:
- Business and personal computers, and related software applications, with electronic spreadsheets and word processing programs is required.
- Experience in abstracting or title insurance is preferred.
- Operating a 10-key calculator with a high degree of accuracy is required.
- Experience in dealing with the general public is preferred.
- Work alone, staying on task perform a variety of duties and responsibilities and assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects,
- Work is primarily performed in a standard office environment, occasional hazards may exist, including uneven ground surfaces.
- Light physical demands; mostly desk work, some lifting and carrying of files and reports, and long periods of standing.
- Frequent to constant use of a personal computer.
- Position involves competing demands, performing multiple tasks, working to deadlines, and responding to customer issues.
- Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity of services.
- Position is subject to drug testing in accordance with applicable State and Federal regulations and City of Clovis policies.
