The Cardiovascular Invasive Laboratory Specialist Supervisor, performs, at a technical level, a variety of cardiovascular procedures to provide an efficient, comfortable, and safe examination of all patients. Supervises staff and department activities that provide service to all patients. Responsible for the efficiency, effectiveness and utilization of the procedural area, staff and equipment. Maintains a smooth and cost effective patient flow. Serves as administrative liaison to patients and physicians. Accountable for tracking patient charges and maintaining various records of documentation. Responsible for oversight of inventory management and supplies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Based on regulatory allowable practices at each specially licensed campus facility, proficiently performs effectively in all three procedural roles (circulate, monitor, scrub) required in a diagnostic or therapeutic cardiac laboratory team based on the Society of Invasive Cardiovascular Professionals scope of practice or performs effectively in all three procedural roles (circulate, monitor, scrub) required in an electrophysiology laboratory based on the Society of Invasive Cardiovascular Professionals scope of practice.

Plans, develops, and coordinates department activities in the most effective way. Supports and enforces policy and procedure. Ensures safety of self, staff, physicians and patients. Manages time and equipment effectively and works as a team member to provide the best possible care to the patient. Receives assignments, instructions, and guidance from Manager or Director and is compliant with special requests as situations dictate.

Practices the principles of universal body substance isolation and enforces safety regulations according to hospital policies on a continual basis. Continually deliver quality diagnostic, therapeutic and interventional patient care services. Practices and enforces safety guidelines. Performs Quality Control as needed.

Supports and assists with data collection for process improvement while understanding the department performance trends and established standards. Contributes and encourages others to contribute toward process improvement by serving on PI teams as assigned. Participates in department surveys and patient satisfaction initiatives. Utilizes patient service recovery resources when appropriate.

Keeps Manager or Director informed and seeks assistance and direction from appropriate individuals when confronted with unfamiliar procedures and techniques, before implementing them, to ensure deliverance of safe and effective patient care. Communicates and collaborates with multidisciplinary team to ensure high quality patient care. Maintains a professional relationship with all customers.

Maintains the confidentiality of employees, patients, administration, and medical staff information with no infractions. Communicates with patients and family members appropriate to age and instructs them in techniques to optimize their care in the hospital, as well as after discharge.

Assists Manager or Director in meeting department budgetary goals. Assists Manager or Director in creating budget plans for respective areas of responsibility. Effectively recruits and oversees the training and orientation of new employees.

Ensures appropriate daily and on-call staffing, managing lab labor expenses in accordance with department budget. Collaborates with campuses as needed to assist with resource needs. Adjusts/resolves complaints, concerns, and problems of supervised employees regarding work assignment, hours of work, overtime scheduling, and other work-related issues.

Exhibits desire to learn and upgrade clinical and leadership skills. Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department or unit.

May perform waived and/or non-waived Point of Care Testing. If performing non-waived Point of Care Testing, as defined by the state or the facility must have approved competency and documented proof (copy of either diploma or transcript, at the highest level of academic achievement) at the time of the facility non-waived Point of Care training.

Knowledge of ECG training and arrhythmia interpretation

Knowledge of Cardiovascular anatomy

Knowledge of vascular anatomy

Knowledge of Hemodynamic Monitoring

Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with patients and their family, hospital staff, nurses, physicians, and other health care professionals

Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the health care industry

Ability to monitor patient blood pressure, ECG, and Pulse Oximetry using sophisticated clinical equipment

Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office

Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English

Interventional Radiology Lab experience

Peripheral Lab experience

Electrophysiology Lab experience

Computer skills in word processing and email, such as, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Knowledge of PACS, hemodynamic and documentation system.

Associate degree OR Bachelors in Cardiovascular Technology, Emergency Medical Services, Nursing, Radiologic Technology or Respiratory Therapy

One year of lead experience

Bachelors degree

Cardiovascular Lab experience

Basic Life Support (BLS)

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

Current valid State of Florida or multi state license as a Registered Nurse (RN)

Radiologic Technologist (R.T.(R))

Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)

Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES)

Nationally Registered Paramedic (NREMT-P)

Specialty certification as defined by individual cost center

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) for certified primary or comprehensive stroke center

Provide leadership/guidance to direct reports

Observes and coaches team member performance and behaviors. If/when needed, brings concerns to supervisors attention for handling.
