Responsibilities:
- Perform waived, moderate, or highly complex tests authorized by CLIA.
- Adhere to laboratory procedures for collection, processing, analysis, and reporting of patient test results.
- Follow laboratory's established quality control policies and procedures.
- Identify and correct problems that may adversely affect test performance.
- Perform a wide variety of laboratory procedures using both manual and automated methods.
- Perform maintenance on instruments and equipment as appropriate.
- Review the accuracy of patient results prior to releasing or reporting.
- Recognize age specific differences in expected results for newborns to geriatrics.
- Ensure that the testing of proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples.
- Perform venipuncture or capillary puncture on various age groups.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of laboratory policies and procedures.
- Adhere to all department and hospital policies and procedures related to safety, infection control, emergency preparedness, and human resources.
- In the absence of a supervisor, may be assigned/identified as Lead Tech.
- May be assigned responsibilities related to LIS and/or POCT.
- Other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned by the department manager/director.
Qualifications:
- ASCP certification, or equivalent, required within 1 year of employment preferred.
- One year hospital laboratory work experience preferred, but not required.
- Bachelors Degree in chemical, physical, biological science, or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution.
- Possession of a current and valid state Clinical Laboratory Scientist license.
Pay Transparency: Saint Clare's Health offers competitive compensation and a reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $35.00. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered.
