Reporting organizationally to the Payroll & Benefits Manager, the Payroll Tax Specialist will be a key member of the FIFA26 team, and work in close collaboration with the Payroll & Benefits team and other key individuals in Finance responsible for delivering accurate payroll tax registrations, filings, reporting and related compliance duties.
THE POSITION
The main responsibilities and oversights of the Payroll Tax Specialist for the FIFA World Cup 26™ include:
- Ensure daily accuracy and timeliness of employee tax setup and updates
- Manage the accurate reporting of payroll taxes to all agencies on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
- Assist in preparation and review of U.S. and international income tax compliance process in conjunction with the outside tax compliance service providers.
- Oversee the filing of quarterly and annual tax documents, including 941s, State Unemployment Reports, W-2, W-3, T-4, RL-1, and other relevant forms for multiple countries
- Monitor legislative changes in US tax laws that may impact the Company's tax positions, including tax accounting implications.
- Work closely with various groups within and outside of the organization (including finance, legal, external auditors, and third-party providers) with respect to wide array of tax, financing, and operational matters.
- Assist with the calculation of state income tax expense and estimated tax payment.
- Respond to payroll tax inquiries via in-person requests, support tickets, phone calls, and emails
Education & Qualifications
- B.S./B.A. in Accounting or Finance, CPA and Masters in Taxation strongly preferred.
- 5+ years of tax accounting experience with a public accounting firm or corresponding in-house experience with a publicly traded company.
- Experience in U.S. and international tax and tax accounting (preferred)
- Strong understanding of federal and state payroll taxes, US corporate tax/ASC 740 and general understanding of international tax.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team and work under pressure to ensure deadlines are met.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Fluent in English. Spanish and/or French proficiency is a plus
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio & Project) and planning software and online collaboration tools
