ABOUT THE POSITION The County of Riverside's Regional Park and Open-Space District has an opportunity for a temporary Recreation Coordinator - Parks at located in Jurupa Valley, CA. Crestmore Manor is a historic mansion and event venue able to accommodate up to 300 guests.

The Recreation Coordinator will be responsible for giving tours, scheduling events, managing contracts, assisting with event set-up and tear-down, and providing event support. Additionally, the Recreation Coordinator will perform clerical tasks and supervise a small team.

This position requires someone with great customer service, time management, troubleshooting, and organization skills. Ideal candidates will possess experience in event scheduling and organization, as well as proficiency with Microsoft Office suite; supervisory and/or team lead experience is preferred. Work Schedule:

The Recreation Coordinator will work weekends and may work holidays. Their shift will vary based on scheduled events and they may work anytime between 7:00 am to 11:00 pm. However, their typical shift will be 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. If a Saturday is worked, the following Monday will be off (subject to change based on business needs). Meet the Team!

TAP Benefits: EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES • Assists in the development and implementation of community activities and services for the County Parks. • Generates and researches ideas for activities to meet the needs of various age groups; pools community groups to determine areas of interest. • Develops programs by securing instructors, arranging for facilities, assessing impact on budget and determining fees. • Assist the public in planning activities and events at the Parks such as weddings and picnics. • Organizes and directs various arts and crafts groups, hobby groups, youth and senior citizens groups, and special interest groups; organizes and directs a variety of games, sports, and contests. • Attends social meetings of special interest organizations within the community; prepares publicity releases and speaks to community groups and schools to promote participation in scheduled activities. • Provides basic first-aid as needed; may coordinate a volunteer program and/or lead a small support staff. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Experience: Two years experience in planning, organizing, and leading community and recreational programs and activities.

Knowledge of: Community, recreation and special events activities and methods of accommodating activities to various interest levels; basic first aid; basic mathematics; correct English usage, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, punctuation, format, and style.

Ability to: Plan, develop, and carry out a schedule of community activities and/or special events; lead and instruct groups of people; meet and deal tactfully with the public; communicate effectively in writing and orally; maintain records; complete forms.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION Other Requirements A California Class C Driver's License is required. The Recreation Coordinator will be expected to travel to gather event materials.

A First-Aid Certificate must be obtained within six months of employment. Physical Environment

The Recreation Coordinator will give tours outdoors throughout the year and may be exposed to inclement weather, animals, and odors.

(Classic Member - Formula 3% @ 60): Applicable to current and former County of Riverside local miscellaneous employees hired prior to 08/24/2012 and did not withdraw CalPERS contributions. The employee contribution is eight (8%) percent. Tier II

(Classic Member - Formula 2% @ 60): Applicable to local miscellaneous employees 1) hired after 08/23/2012 through 12/31/2012; 2) Previously employed with another CalPERS contracting public agency or a reciprocal retirement system, with a break in service of less than six months between the separation date with the previous employer and the appointment date with the County of Riverside. (PEPRA New Member - Formula 2% @ 62): Applicable to CalPERS local miscellaneous new members hired on or after the implementation of the Public Employees' Pension Reform Act of 2013 (PEPRA) which took effect January 1, 2013.

As of July 1, 2023, the employee contribution is 8.25% and subject to change annually.

A new member is defined as any of the following: A new hire who enters CalPERS membership for the first time on or after January 1, 2013, and who has no prior membership in any California Public Retirement System. A new hire who enters CalPERS membership for the first time on or after January 1, 2013, and who was a member with another California Public Retirement System prior to that date, but who is not subject to reciprocity upon joining CalPERS.
