Job Summary

The Facilities Technician I is responsible for performing a wide variety of maintenance, repair, and facility upkeep tasks across the organization. This hands-on role includes basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and mechanical work to ensure the safe and efficient operation of buildings, equipment, and infrastructure. The technician will be expected to work both independently and as part of a team after completing appropriate training. This position requires physical labor and the use of hand and power tools.

Key Responsibilities Perform routine and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment, HVAC systems, lighting, plumbing, and basic electrical systems Repair and maintain facility structures including walls, windows, doors, floors, ceilings, and roofsBuild or modify partitions, perform drywall repairs, and apply paint or finishes as needed Use hand and power tools (e.g., saws, drills, wrenches, hammers) and specialized testing equipment to perform repairs and diagnostics Troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues including electrical switches, HVAC rooftop units, and clogged drains Oversee and coordinate with external contractors during facility repairs or upgrades Obtain repair parts and supplies from storerooms or distributors Conduct preventive maintenance following detailed checklists, including inspection of belts, motors, filters, and fluid levels Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and update work orders in digital systems Interpret service manuals, blueprints, and schematics to diagnose and repair systems Communicate effectively via email and work order systems; input timesheet data and report task completion Work across various facility locations (indoors/outdoors), often on short notice Adhere to all safety protocols, wear appropriate PPE, and participate in company-mandated training programs Perform heavy physical labor including lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, and working in confined or elevated spaces

Required Qualification s Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical labor consistently throughout the workday Basic proficiency in using hand and power tools Ability to follow work orders and operate with minimal supervision after initial training Strong technical and mechanical aptitude Ability to interpret written instructions, service manuals, and blueprints Comfortable working in varying environments (hot/cold, indoors/outdoors, confined spaces, at heights) Good reading comprehension and basic computer skills for updating work orders and communicating electronically

Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in facilities maintenance, construction, or a related technical trade Familiarity with computer-controlled HVAC systems Knowledge of safety compliance and facility-related regulations Ability to multitask and switch between tasks quickly Demonstrated judgment and decision-making skills in problem-solving facility-related issues

Certifications (if any) OSHA Safety Certification (preferred) HVAC or Trade Certifications (a plus)
