NETWORK ANALYST
Job Brief:
Perform various technical duties related to analysis, maintenance, design, implementation of voice, video or data systems and interconnections to other computing environments.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Monitor network performance and make modifications to ensure successful integration of all city networks and ensure reliability, accessibility and security of access into citywide infrastructure components such as Internet and the City network. Monitor network performance and make modifications to enhance operating efficiency. Develop networks and criteria for network monitoring software, network traffic analysis and data collection and analysis Test and implement voice and data systems, including local and wide area networks to meet the needs of users. Prepare specifications and plans for implementation of new or enhanced networks. Configure and implement network hardware, software, ancillary services and network communication gateways to other computing environments. Manager network operations and identify and resolve network and component operating problems with vendors and internal staff. Provide supportive expertise to other technical staff members in installing and configuring network equipment and in resolving user or system problems. Maintain citywide Internet connectivity. Coordinate citywide Internet and/or IP addressing assignments. Lead cross-functional project teams consisting of technical staff to deliver solutions on time and within scope. Monitor and analyze the citywide network backbone to inform capacity planning and ensure optimal performance. Perform other duties assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered. Four years of responsible experience in the design, enhancement, implementation, and/or operation of voice, video and/or date communications networks. Knowledge of principles, procedures, and techniques applicable to the design and operation of voice, video, and data communications network. Knowledge of the uses, capabilities, characteristics, and limitations of software and hardware supporting voice, video, and data communications networks. Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations. Ability to operate equipment needed to perform job activities. Use forms, charts, graphs, templates and other design materials. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with stakeholders at all levels. Establish and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders. Manage tasks and resources to ensure assigned projects are completed on time, within scope, and to quality standards. Remain available for on-call support after hours, including evenings, nights and weekends.
