Our client a company that specializes in managing hotels and resorts is seeking to hire a
Chief Hotel Engineer
in
Brookfield, WI . This is a brand new hotel built in 2024. This is a direct hire (full-time position) that
pays $85K-$95K
with a
generous benefits package.
You will work
8:00-4:30PM Monday - Friday
but must be open to working some over time with on-call responsibilities.
Position Overview
The Chief Building Engineer will supervise the implementation of all property and equipment preventive maintenance and repairs, monitor life safety systems and utilities, and administer the department in compliance with all corporate/franchise standards as wells as local, state and national codes and regulations to protect assets, guests and associates.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for the preventative maintenance and repair of the hotel's mechanical/electrical systems and equipment, and for the general maintenance and upkeep of the physical plant, FF&E, grounds, swimming pool, etc. as defined by corporate and brand standards. Interview, hire, train, recommend performance evaluations, resolve problems, provide open communication and recommend discipline and/or termination when appropriate. Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in mechanical or electrical systems (e.g., HVAC, plumbing) and other equipment throughout the hotel. Perform preventative maintenance assignments on a scheduled basis. Respond in a courteous manner to all guest questions, complaints, and or requests to ensure strong guest satisfaction. Communicate with hotel department heads to become aware of maintenance needs and ensure timely response to internal requests. Service the hotel's pool, including adjusting chemicals and cleaning filters; completing maintenance request forms and record logs. Maintain the building exterior and "curb appeal" (e.g., snow removal, lawn care, painting, and gardening). Maintain franchise standards and follow-up on inspection deficiencies. Coordinate compliance of service contracts. Implement and maintain preventative maintenance programs and room care programs. Assist General Manager with annual Capital Plan development. Actively participate in Safety Plan and energy improvements. Qualifications:
5+ years of experience as a Chief Hotel Engineer. EPA Universal Certification Certified Pool Operators License (CPO) Strong technical troubleshooting skills regarding HVAC, electrical, networking, and commercial appliances typically found in a Hotel setting. Technical Systems you will oversee:
Maintain digital systems:
key/fob management and creation Guest entertainment - Room TVs and common area music Basic understanding of Microsoft Office and Teams to assist with conference room technology Basic understanding of common networking practices and equipment to assist vendors and IT remote support Ability to learn on the fly as needs and solutions change Other Systems & Equipment:
Refrigeration & Kitchen Equipment:
Maintain and service
walk-in coolers ,
Vulcan flat top grill and range , and
high-temp commercial dishwashers . Troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance on all food service appliances to ensure operational efficiency and safety. HVAC Systems:
Inspect and repair
dual-stage heating and cooling systems
and
PTAC (Packaged Terminal Air Conditioner) units
across the property. Monitor HVAC systems for optimal performance and respond quickly to service disruptions. Large Multi-Ton AHU's Water and Sanitation Systems:
Maintain and monitor the
Ecolab chemical drip system
for dishwashing and sanitation. Ensure proper operation of the
pool controls
including heating, chemical balance, filtration, and safety compliance. On-Demand Water Heater Systems High Tep Water Sanitation Systems Laundry Operations:
Operate, service, and maintain
large commercial linen washers and dryer sets , ensuring maximum uptime and efficiency. Schedule regular preventive maintenance and work with vendors as necessary. Technology & Communication Systems:
Troubleshoot and maintain
multi-room phone systems ,
MUSAQ compartmentalized audio systems , and
multi-room cable distribution . Maintain and monitor
CCTV security systems , ensuring continuous operation and clear footage recording. General Maintenance & Facility Support:
Perform daily building walkthroughs to identify maintenance needs. Respond to work orders and guest requests in a timely and professional manner. Ensure all work complies with safety regulations, building codes, and company policies.
