Cloud Engineer
Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago in search of a Cloud Engineer who can seamlessly mesh tech know-how with business acumen to help us navigate all our public and private cloud computing needs, including infrastructure design, maintenance, support and planning, and everything in between. Not only are you experienced in cloud-based tech, but you have a firm grasp of aaS technologies, platforms and applications, and have intimate knowledge of how best to customize these attributes to our business to help us become more secure and efficient. You can help us connect the dots and evolve our cloud capabilities over time, but you're also evolving your own capabilities as an engineer and keeping an eye on developments that can support our expansionand help us implement those, too. Essential Job Functions: Working in tandem with our engineering team to identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions for the company. Planning, designing, and deploying cloud-based applications and infrastructure. Managing cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines. Deploying and debugging cloud initiatives as needed in accordance with best practices throughout the development lifecycle. Educating teams on the implementation of new cloud-based initiatives, providing associated training as required. Employing exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to see and solve issues before they snowball into problems. Lead and develop best practices for larger Cloud Virtual Team. Building and designing web services in the cloud, along with implementing the set-up of geographically redundant services. Orchestrating and automating cloud-based platforms throughout the company. Stay current with industry trends, making recommendations as needed to help the company excel. Assumes on-call responsibility for after-hours operations support, per the schedule. Completes assigned ServiceNow support tickets and Service Requests within IM Department standards Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Education: Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems/Technology/Computer Science (or equivalent work experience). Certification as an AWS Solutions Architect, and/or AWS Cloud Security Certification, (Other cloud-related certification also a plus.) Three+ years' experience in developing software using languages such as Java, Python, C++ or Ruby. Experience working with OpenStack, Linux/UNIX, Rackspace, Docker and Amazon Web Services (AWS). Three+ years' experience in a Cloud Engineer role or related position. Knowledge of web services, API, REST and RPC. Strong awareness of networking and internet protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP and distributed networks. Database experience, including knowledge of SQL server (including PaaS). OR Certification as an Azure Microsoft Azure Administrator, and/or Microsoft Azure Architect Technologies Certification. (Other cloud-related certification also a plus.) Experience with SOA applications and cloud-based services, preferably Azure. Proficiency with PowerShell, Python, or other scripting languages Three+ years of experience designing and supporting Azure environments, including IaaS and PaaS Knowledge of web services, API, REST and RPC. Strong awareness of networking and internet protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP and distributed networks. Database experience, including knowledge of SQL server (including PaaS). AND Extensive experience with open-source technology, software development and system engineering. Three+ years' experience in Infra as Code (YAML, JSON, Terraform, etc.) Interest in Cloud Engineering and its impact on greater business practices. Extensive experience with Cloud Management Platforms (vRealize, Terraform, Azure Cloud Management, etc.) Three+ years of building and managing Windows Servers or UNIX/Linux Servers Skilled at working in tandem with a team of engineers. Excellent time and project management skills, customer service and interpersonal skills, system diagnostic and communication (written and oral) are critical for success in this position. Analytical thinking for effective problem determination and correction within the department and in the user community is essential. Experience in information systems/technology within a health care provider organization is desired. Education: Bachelor's Degree (Required) Pay Range: $93,600.00-$154,440.00 Salary At Lurie Children's, we are committed to competitive and fair compensation aligned with market rates and internal equity, reflecting individual contributions, experience, and expertise.
