Shipping Lead

The Shipping Lead oversees the daily operations of the shipping department in our dairy manufacturing facility. This role ensures the accurate, efficient, and timely shipment of products while maintaining compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. The lead also continuously and consistently enforces GMP and housekeeping policies. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned: Oversee and coordinate all shipping activities, ensuring orders are processed, loaded, and shipped accurately and on time. Verify shipments against orders, ensuring accuracy in product count, labeling, and documentation. Monitor and maintain inventory control to minimize discrepancies and ensure accurate record-keeping. Work closely with carriers and third-party logistics providers to coordinate pick-ups and deliveries. Address and resolve any shipping-related issues promptly to minimize delays. Supervise and provide direction to shipping team members, including training and coaching. Assign daily tasks and monitor progress to ensure productivity targets are met. Foster a positive and productive work environment that promotes teamwork and continuous improvement. Ensure proper communication between shifts and departments to streamline operations. Ensure all shipping operations comply with company policies, regulatory guidelines, and food safety standards (e.g., SQF, GMPs, HACCP). Conduct regular inspections of shipping areas, equipment, and procedures to ensure compliance with safety protocols. Train employees on proper handling and loading procedures to prevent product damage and ensure workplace safety. Maintain and enforce cleanliness and organization in the shipping area to meet food safety and OSHA requirements. Prepare and maintain accurate shipping records, including bills of lading, packing slips, and other required documentation. Track and report key shipping metrics, such as on-time delivery rates and shipping errors, and implement corrective actions when needed. Lead daily shift meetings Follow FIFO Actively engage in waste reduction efforts in all areas. Monitor and record necessary waste-tracking documentation. Promote retention and provide a workplace culture that is clean, organized, positive, safe and that supports the mission, vision, guiding principles, and values of the organization Basic requirements: High school diploma or GED required. Minimum 1 year of related experience in shipping or warehouse. Strong knowledge of shipping and logistics procedures. Excellent organizational skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy. Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
