Total Rewards Director

The Total Rewards Director is a strategic leadership role that will design, develop, implement, and continuously improve all aspects of benefits, compensation, and recognition programs to ensure they align with the company's strategic goals and values. The successful candidate will drive business results and provide leadership and vision around strategic program development that will enable the attraction, development, and retention of key talent. It will collaborate with various departments, including HR, finance, and legal, to deliver competitive and equitable compensation and benefits strategies. Key Duties: Develop, implement, and continuously improve comprehensive Total Rewards strategies, including salary structures, incentive plans, benefits, and recognition programs aligned with company objectives and market competitiveness. Lead compensation and benefits design and execution across multiple states or geographies, including job evaluation and architecture processes, salary grade structure design and implementation, incentive plan design, executive compensation, and benefits and wellness program design and infrastructure. Develop and maintain market-based pay structures and variable compensation plans that are benchmarked internally so that pay and benefit practices are competitive within the industry, there is internal equity, pay transparency, and compliance with all government requirements. Monitor and analyze industry trends/best practices for rewards programs to ensure competitiveness. Assume an industry leader and subject matter expert position, thereby empowering day-to-day interaction with managers and staff regarding the Total Rewards philosophy and strategy. Accurately and effectively oversee and administer employee leave of absence for the Company. Create and manage strong relationships with external parties such as benefits brokers, retirement plan advisors, insurance companies, and global vendors. Utilize data analytics and HRIS systems to monitor Total Rewards program effectiveness. Prepare and present regular reports on compensation trends, budget forecasting, and program impact. Drive the development and implementation of cross-functional utilization of KPIs, analytics, and dashboards to influence decisions and provide oversight to leadership. Engage as a vital member of the HR leadership to collaborate on business issues and priorities to influence solutions leveraging HR strategies. Administer and ensure accuracy of benefit plan billing and reconciliation. Participate and utilize benchmarking studies and market analysis to ensure competitive compensation and benefits offerings. Provide guidance and expertise to HR Business Partners and Talent Acquisition teams on developing pay and offer decisions that are rooted in data and aligned with our compensation philosophy for new hires and existing employees. Responsible for oversight of compliance, administration, and record-keeping of health and welfare plans, 401(k) plan, company policies, employee analytics, and reporting. Ensure management of all aspects of benefit administration ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local compensation and benefit laws and regulations. Perform other duties as assigned. Education/Training: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, OR the equivalent combination of education and relevant working experience. Required Work Experience/Skills: Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in total rewards, compensation, and benefits management, including leadership experience. Relevant certifications (e.g., CCP, CEBS) are a plus. Demonstrated ability to apply strategic thinking, yet focused on execution and can get into the tactical when needed. Experience with compensation and benefits design (job architecture, benchmarking, market pricing, pay ranges) and execution across multiple states or geographies. Strong analytic ability and advanced skills with analytic tools, especially MS Excel; mastery of formula-based functions such as v-lookups, data manipulation, and pivot tables. Sound knowledge of the regulations and laws governing compensation and benefits programs (FLSA, Sec 125, 409A, ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, etc.) Strong interpersonal skills; someone who can forge close relationships, influence decisions, and who will be sought out for their counsel. Preferred Work Experience/Skills: Expert understanding of benefits plan design and administration. Expert understanding of compensation benchmarking and market analysis. Advanced knowledge of variable compensation plan development. Advanced understanding of leave administration and recognition programs. Intermediate knowledge of benefits vendor management. Discretionary Judgment: Uses independent judgment and discretion based upon the employee's experience in the position and knowledge of the products, equipment, and services. Uses good judgement and possesses ethical work values. Physical Demands, Working Conditions, and General Employment Guidelines: Moderate or high levels of stress may be experienced in the performance of the job. Position is performed in a general office environment, home office, or approved remote workspace where physical work includes, but is not limited to, sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting to 25 lbs. Equipment: Daily use of the Microsoft Teams (phone), computer, printer, and other routine office equipment. Must have internet access. Safety to Self and Others: Little responsibility for safety of others. Job is performed in an office setting where there are no hazardous materials or equipment. Working Conditions/Hazards: Position is performed in an open office environment or an approved remote work location.
