The Indiana Division of Fish and Wildlife is seeking a passionate and dedicated Fishing Coordinator to join the division's R3 Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective guidance and program management to both internal and external stakeholders regarding the recruitment, retention, and reactivation (R3) of the state's anglers. The coordinator provides expertise and collaborates with agency staff and external partners to develop and advance state angler R3 strategies as outlined in the Indiana DNR R3 Action Plan, and build capacity for implementing best practices to increase license sales and achieve agency goals. A Day in the Life Coordinate the implementation of a state R3 strategic action plan for the recruitment, retention, and reactivation of anglers, to include collaboration with program staff in developing, implementing, and evaluating effective programs and outreach efforts Work with internal and external stakeholders on R3 strategic plan objectives, such as but not limited to: Assist in the development of relevant and engaging angler marketing campaigns Work collaboratively to create lessons, workshops, and species landing pages. Deliver effective outreach and customer engagement strategies. Create and administer surveys on angler participation. Track and report on the effectiveness of R3 strategies. Oversee/work with volunteers, intermittent, and partners during R3 events such as: State Fair Fishing Pond, fishing and/or boating workshops, educational programs etc. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with agency staff, external organizations and agency partners from the outdoor recreational community, as well as the public. Coordinate stakeholder committees, working groups, and planning teams as needed. Assess resources and develop strategies and budget needed for effective implementation of R3 angler initiatives. Stay abreast of national developments in R3 and share that information with internal and external partners. Recruit trainers, mentors, and partners from Indiana conservation organizations to assist in R3 efforts. Maintain detailed records and data related to partners and program participants, program/campaign performance metrics, license sales, and trends in event participation. Preferred Experience: An ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of work experience. Experience with and passion for fishing a plus. Experience creating and implementing outreach strategies. Knowledge of the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation and the American System of Conservation Funding Project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently. Data analysis Experience in building successful working relationships with local entities and organized groups. Experience facilitating various groups of stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Effective interpersonal, presentation, and public speaking skills. Someone who demonstrates a passion for wildlife conservation. Skilled in using software programs to include Microsoft Office products. Knowledge of fishing programs and activities for families and children a plus. Ability to work some weekends and evenings when needed, as well as travel both in state and out of state. Candidate must possess a valid driver's license. Salary Statement: The salary for this position traditionally starts at $53,222.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience. A Day in the Life: The essential functions of this role are as follows: Establish program objectives, KPIs, and actions to achieve them. Develop, update, and monitor all policies and procedures related to the program area. Interpret and explain policies, rules, regulations, or laws to leadership or customers. Implement corrective action plans to solve program problems. Analyze, prepare, and disseminate monthly and annual program reports. Review budget and make budgetary recommendations to improve the program area finances. Ensure program requirements meet federal and state policies and grants compliance. Assist in the development and train employees or agency consultants on program requirements and usage. Coordinator and deliver communication plans and communications. Serve as a liaison between agency and other state and federal agencies. Serve on management committees or other governing boards. Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development. Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees. Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures. This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary. What You'll Need for Success: The ideal candidate in this role should minimally have either a Master's Degree with 1+ years of experience, or a Bachelor's Degree with 3+ years of experience, or an Associate's Degree with 5+ years of experience, or at least 7+ years of experience applying the below, outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role. You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment: Specialized knowledge in program subject matter obtained through experience and/or education. Specialized knowledge of program area including pertinent rules and regulations. Extensive knowledge of all source materials and references including federal and state laws governing the programs. Ability to develop and implement new principles and policies and discern any far-reaching implications. Ability to communicate orally and in writing. The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense. Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders. Working knowledge of accounting and budget principles. Ability to delegate work, set clear direction, and manage workflow. Ability to effectively give feedback, provide guidance or corrective action, coach, and develop employee skillsets. Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
