Billing Manager

Job Summary: The Billing Manager oversees all aspects of the billing process for pathology services, ensuring accurate and timely submission of claims, client invoices, healthcare regulation compliance and reimbursement. This role involves managing billing staff, optimizing revenue cycle workflows, and working closely with laboratory personnel, insurances, and regulatory agencies. Responsibilities include: Supervise and lead the pathology billing team, including training, performance evaluations, and workflow management for both an in office and remote workforce. Ensure timely and accurate submission of client invoices, patient statements and medical claims to insurance carriers, Medicare, and Medicaid. Review and resolve denied or rejected claims and ensure prompt follow-up for resubmission or appeals. Monitor accounts receivable and manage all collections processes. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CPT, ICD-10, and all payer-specific billing regulations. Collaborate with pathologists, laboratory staff, and coders to ensure proper documentation and coding practices are being followed. Maintain and update billing software as needed. Prepare reports on billing activity, collections, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for management. Develop and implement policies and procedures to streamline billing and collections operations with focus on automating these processes. Stay current with industry trends, payer requirements, and changes in pathology billing regulations. Other duties as needed by the company. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field (or equivalent experience). 5+ years of experience in medical billing, with at least 2 years in a leadership role. Strong knowledge of pathology billing procedures, medical coding (CPT, ICD-10), and payer guidelines. Experience with laboratory information systems and medical billing software. Experience with Telcor is a plus.
