Electrician - Modular Homes
The Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems in modular home units built in a factory environment. This role requires a strong understanding of residential electrical systems, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work efficiently as part of a team. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and experienced in residential wiring and code compliance. Key Responsibilities: Installation: - Install wiring systems for lighting, receptacles, appliances, HVAC units, and service panels within modular home units. - Mount and connect electrical boxes, conduit, switches, and outlets according to layout specifications and blueprints. - Ensure all installations meet local, state, and national electrical codes (NEC). Maintenance and Repairs: - Conduct inspections of installed systems for proper operation and code compliance. - Identify and resolve wiring issues, short circuits, or component failures. - Replace defective wiring, fixtures, or equipment as needed. Troubleshooting and Diagnostics: - Use diagnostic tools (e.g., multimeters, circuit testers) to evaluate system functionality. - Read blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to trace problems and make corrections. - Recommend and execute corrective actions efficiently. Documentation and Compliance: - Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and inspections completed. - Ensure full compliance with safety standards, plant protocols, and NEC requirements. Collaboration and Communication: - Coordinate with other trades (carpentry, HVAC, plumbing) to support full modular home assembly. - Communicate with supervisors and quality control to resolve issues and maintain production timelines. - Train or support junior team members if needed. Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an electrical apprenticeship or technical school preferred. - Valid electrician license or journeyman certification (if applicable to NM regulations). - Minimum of 2 years of residential or modular electrical experience. - Strong working knowledge of residential electrical systems and the National Electrical Code (NEC). - Proficient with hand tools and power tools (e.g., drills, saws, wire strippers, conduit benders). - Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and wiring diagrams. - Strong attention to detail, troubleshooting skills, and safety awareness. - Reliable transportation and punctual attendance required. Working Conditions: - Work performed indoors in a factory/modular housing production environment. - May require working in elevated areas or tight spaces. - Regular exposure to tools, wiring, electrical panels, and moving equipment. - Physically demanding: must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, kneel, and stand for long periods. - Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to all OSHA and company safety policies is mandatory.
