Director of Mountain Operations

Camelback Resort is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Mountain Operations to lead our Mountain Operations and Grounds Maintenance teams. This role ensures safe, efficient year-round operations across our ski resort, hotel, and adventure attractions. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, operational expertise, and a commitment to safety and excellence in all areas of mountain infrastructure. Primary Responsibilities: Oversee the operations of Camelback Resort's Mountain Operations and Grounds Maintenance teams, ensuring efficient and safe operations. Supervise and provide training, scheduling, and guidance for Mountain Operations and Grounds Maintenance team members to maintain safety and optimal efficiency. Develop and implement comprehensive preventative maintenance programs for snowmaking system. Oversee the design, construction, and maintenance of snowmaking system and capital projects, ensuring safety and quality. Regularly inspect and maintain terrain to meet safety standards, while managing risk and enforcing company policies. Monitor and analyze snowmaking system and electrical data to ensure safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement. Lead recruitment, onboarding, and training initiatives for team members across department. Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs of snowmaking system, sewage treatment plant, electrical infrastructure, and state park, including work orders, inspections, and safety checks. Establish and maintain relationships with vendors for parts, services, and equipment. Next Level Duties: Develop and manage annual budgets for mountain operations, sewage treatment plant, electrical and grounds maintenance, ensuring cost control and resource allocation. Participate in project management tasks and off-season maintenance activities, such as upkeep of snowmaking system, tree trimming and electrical infrastructure. Respond to emergencies, including power outages, equipment malfunctions and team needs, to minimize operational disruptions. Collaborate with other resort departments to coordinate terrain, water, heavy machinery and electrical infrastructure availability to support year-round operations, including the ski resort, hotel, adventure park and waterparks. Drive the evolution of operational guidelines and service standards for all departments in line with safety and industry best practices. Must Have Personal Qualifications: Leadership, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills required. Strong customer service orientation and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Basic knowledge of snowmaking, high voltage electrical, and grooming. High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in Ski Area Operations or a related field preferred. At least 5 years of experience in mountain operations management required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and knowledge of snow automation systems. Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred. Ability to work outdoors in various conditions, including winter weather. During peak seasons, the schedule may require a work week schedule over 40 hours per week, including nights, weekends and holidays.
