Job Title: Customer Service Rep - Adult Ambulatory Pavilion
Job Summary: To answer inquiries and obtain information for the general public and visitors. To provide administrative support. To act as central liaison for patients and family members within the medical center.
Education & Experience
High school graduate/GED. Customer service experience preferred.
Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required:
NA
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personnel services. Basic verbal and written communication skills. Active listening and phone skills. Interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate effectively with others involved in patient care and display organizational skills.
Responsibilities
Meets and greets each patient/family as they enter the departments waiting area. Assists patients getting into the area. Communicates with triage and charge nurse. Recognizes job relationship and performs within the organizational structure. Greets visitors, determines nature and purpose of visit, and directs or escorts them to specific destinations. Registers patients and issues visitor passes. Facilitates communication pathways. Minimizes stress as it relates to department waiting area. Maintains a confidential, ethical and safe environment. Performs periodic inspections of waiting rooms to check on condition of patients, customer service needs, and for room cleanliness; notifies staff of any changes in patient condition requiring immediate attention. Performs other duties as assigned. The duties listed are general in nature and are examples of the duties and responsibilities performed and are not meant to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Management retains the right to add or change duties at any time.
Physical and Environmental Demands Requires occasional exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and exposure to heat and cold, occasional handling or working with potentially dangerous equipment, frequent exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, occasional activities subject to significant volume changes of a seasonal/clinical nature, occasional bending, frequent lifting and carrying more than 100 pounds, frequent crouching/stooping, frequent kneeling, frequent pushing/pulling, frequent reaching, occasional sitting, constant standing, occasional twisting, and constant walking. (occasional-up to 20%, frequent-from 21% to 50%, constant-51% or more)
