Promotional preference will be given in the order listed. The Position Mental Health Technicians supplement the work of mental health professionals, health specialists, and nursing staff in providing direct client care for clients in a mental health facility. Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action. The Division of Public and Behavioral Health, Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services (SNAMHS), is recruiting for a Mental Health Technician IV at Stein Forensic Hospital in Las Vegas. The Mental Health Technician IV (MHT IV) acts as supervisor Mental Health Technicians I, II, and III (MHT I, II, III). The MHT IV has oversight of Mental Health MHT I, II, III in daily Forensic operations. Incumbent will be called upon to exercise leadership, model appropriate behaviors as defined in the agency competencies and manage performance. The MHT IV will influence and motivate subordinates to reach the expected level of excellence in client care. Successful candidates will be highly competent communicators and be able to lead, guide, mentor, direct and motivate staff. Team building and collaboration will be key functions of the position; candidates will need to be empowering and able to develop staff members for the success of the agency and the success of their subordinates. Maintaining high ethical standards in all job elements, the MHT IV will need to be proficient in conflict management and resolution and work toward creating an environment that is free from disruptive behaviors and works to maintain the highest standard of client care. This is a full-time position. Incumbent will be working an innovative variable schedule, with overtime after 40 hours per week. Through a team approach, we provide innovative inpatient and outpatient mental health services for competency restoration at pleasure of the courts and its jurisdictions. We also provide continued care for long-term clients who are housed within our facility assisting in the development of daily skills, life skills, and providing a therapeutic environment. To qualify, you must meet the following requirements: Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of experience, three of which were paraprofessional experience in a hospital, institutional, or residential, clinic, or community setting providing care, treatment, training and supervision for individuals with mental illness or emotional disturbances. In addition, applicants must have attained and maintained valid mental health certification pursuant to NRS 433.279; OR one year of experience as a Mental Health Technician III or Developmental Support Technician III in Nevada State service and valid mental health certification pursuant to NRS 433.279. Special Requirements A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment. Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required.
