Him Clerk Assistant
Under the general direction of the Health Information Team, the HIM Clerk Assistant has the general responsibility of maintaining medical records in accordance with TJC, federal, state, and local guidelines, organizational and departmental policies, and procedures. Communicates with medical staff, other departments, and outside agencies while maintaining confidentiality. The position requires self-motivation, creativity, and capabilities to function in a semi-autonomous role within a fast pace and dynamic environment. Status: PRN - As Needed Standards Of Performance Performs clerical duties, including answering phones, responding to emails, and processing patient admission and discharge records. Performs high volume scanning of patient records. Prints and faxes patient reports to referring doctors as needed. Pulls charts, records, and other medical information when needed. Files new medical records Processes expired patient records. Processes patient record requests Works directly with coding staff to assure timely receipt of all records to be coded. Assist in inputting medical data into electronic health records (EHR) systems, medical databases, and other digital platforms as requested. Assist in maintaining quality and accurate records by following hospital procedures. Maintain confidentiality of medical records in compliance with all legal requirements. Performs related job duties as required. Requirements Minimum Level Of Education: Education level equivalent to a high school diploma. Formal Training: Skills and experience in organizing, implementing, facilitating, and verbal and written communications. Licensure, Certification, Registration: None required Work Experience: Experience in records management or any aspect of the healthcare or related industry is preferred but not mandatory. Must be experienced with general office duties and equipment.
