Extrusion Machine Operator
The Blown Film Extruder Operator is responsible for starting and operating a thermoplastic extruder and associated production equipment to convert polyurethane resins into blown film for elastomeric plastic sheeting and tubing. Responsibilities
Determine product requirements and customers' specifications, including film type, color, width, gauge, and tolerances. Start and set up extruder equipment, slitting stations, and winders based on product and customer requirements, adjusting settings to meet specified tolerances. Perform visual and mechanical inspections of film to identify non-conforming issues and discuss corrective actions with Supervisors. Conduct die changeovers and other general extrusion functions. Clean dies and air rings. Record extruder setup data and other information accurately and completely in the database. Operate a blown-film extruder and auxiliary equipment, including slitters, winders, blenders, vacuum loading systems, forklifts, and roll carts, safely and successfully. Verify that the appropriate raw material, repro, and/or blended resin is selected/blended per formula. Ensure the quality of film and raw materials meets and exceeds customer and company standards. Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment around all work areas and equipment. Communicate and cooperate effectively with Supervisors and Coworkers. Safely operate all manufacturing machinery, inspection tools, and material handling equipment, reporting any issues to Supervisors. Adhere to all Employment and ISO Quality Management System policies, procedures, work instructions, and requirements; follow all health and safety regulations. Perform other related duties as assigned. Essential Skills
Mechanically inclined. Ability to read a tape measure. Willingness to operate a forklift. Physical work capability. Proactive, with a good attitude and eagerness to learn. Additional Skills & Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience in a manufacturing facility is preferred. Familiarity with blown-film extruder operation, slitting stations, winders, and machinery requiring die changes and cleaning is a plus. Knowledge of polyurethane (TPU) film is a plus. Proficiency in using digital micrometers, hand gauges, rulers, and tape measures. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. Competence in performing basic mathematical equations and computer/data entry skills. Ability to work independently and within a team environment. Legal authorization to work in the USA. The position involves physical work, including lifting, bending, and climbing, in a clean facility. The work schedule is four days a week, 12-hour shifts, with a set weekly schedule established after the initial month. Flexibility to work any of the seven days is ideal. Job Type & Location
