Job Summary: Provides maintenance support to the entire manufacturing facility to ensure quality and minimize production downtime. This position contributes to the ongoing upkeep of facility, machinery, equipment, and plant operations by providing repairs, adjustments, installations and preventive maintenance necessary for proper function and appearance of operations. Perform changeovers, set-ups, and maintenance of all manufacturing equipment. Participates in all major rebuilds and plant facilities maintenance. May be placed on call to work extended hours or shifts, as required by management or business needs. This position is integral to the success of the organization. Equipment and facilities services must operate at an optimum level to ensure that quality products are delivered to our customers within the allotted time and at the desired price. The maintenance and facilities group must provide outstanding customer service to its customers, both internal and external. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally and coordinate efforts around process improvement Working knowledge of basic elements of TPM and Good Manufacturing Practices in a manufacturing environment Applies a wide variety of methods, procedures & techniques to layout, install, align, repair, overhaul, & maintain various types of machines encompassing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems & operation principles Performs preventive maintenance on mechanical systems to include disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, and calibration Cleans, lubricates, and adjusts parts, equipment, and machinery Examines parts for defects such as breakage and excessive wear recording the findings in the CMMS program for proper follow-up. Observes and tests the operation of machinery and equipment in order to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters and other testing devices Operates newly repaired machinery and equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs Reads blueprints and manufacturers' manuals to determine correct installation and operation of machinery Demonstrates equipment functions and features to machine operators Record repairs, maintenance, parts and materials used, orders or requisitions for new parts and materials within the defined CMMS program. Ensures the safety needs are given a top priority in operations support and work execution a. Examples: Arc Flash/Shock Hazard safety, confined space entry, LOTO, hazardous materials, hand tool safe use, etc. Performs mechanical troubleshooting, repair of miscellaneous equipment and preventative maintenance Every mechanic provides their own tools along with a lockable rolling toolbox / cart. Performs all other duties as assigned Education and Skills Minimum high school graduate or GED Read, write, speak, and comprehend English Experience with food manufacturing, and in steam related equipment, Lean Manufacturing and HACCP desirable Strong electrical knowledge and troubleshooting highly desired Experience with pumps, piping, instrumentation equipment, welding, use of hoists, cranes, and fine measurement devices is a plus Minimum 6+ years' maintenance experience preferably an industrial manufacturing environment Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical devices, troubleshooting & repair, and safe work practices Must be comfortable with the use of personal computers and proficient with Outlook and Excel Physical Demands Vision, hearing, and speaking to meet performance standards Ability to stand, walk, push, pull, lift, climb, bend, stoop, squat, and fine motor skills to work with all types of hand tools, power tools, scales, pallet jacks and drum dollies, mops, brooms, ladders, and portable stairs etc. Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and heavier weights using appropriate equipment and/or team lifting techniques Ability to work with exposure to the elements for short periods Ability to work in elevated positions, at up to 30 feet while using proper safety precautions Continuous mental and visual attention working around moving equipment, mechanical devices and electrical circuits Work Environment Requires ability to work in an environment that may contain non-toxic fumes, dust, odors, noise, and temperature and ventilation variations while wearing any appropriate safety and/or protective clean room apparel (i.e.: safety glasses, safety shoes, gloves, hair net, face mask, uniform) Work environment involves exposure inclement weather May require working in cramped spaces and extending hands into machinery
