Invasive Cardiology Technologist
The Cath Lab Technologist is responsible for assisting physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac and peripheral vascular disease by performing diagnostic and interventional procedures in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. The technologist ensures safe and effective operation of imaging equipment, manages hemodynamic monitoring systems, and delivers high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities
Prepare patients for cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology (EP), and/or interventional radiology procedures, ensuring informed consent and appropriate pre-procedure protocols. Operate and maintain fluoroscopy, hemodynamic monitoring, and recording systems during diagnostic and interventional procedures. Scrub in alongside the cardiologist to assist with catheter insertion, wire manipulation, stent deployment, balloon angioplasty, and other therapeutic interventions. Monitor and document patient vital signs, waveforms, and procedural events accurately in real time. Administer contrast agents under physician direction, ensuring patient safety and allergy precautions. Maintain strict adherence to sterile techniques and infection control standards. Assist in emergency procedures, including CPR, defibrillation, and temporary pacing. Ensure equipment readiness, daily calibration, and troubleshooting to minimize downtime. Collaborate with nursing, physicians, and other team members to ensure efficient case flow and positive patient outcomes. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, radiation safety programs, and continuing education. Maintain accurate procedure logs and participate in inventory management of supplies and implants. Qualifications
Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) required. Previous experience in a Cardiovascular Lab; preferred. Cardiovascular technologist training program with emphasis in invasive cardiology and hemodynamic monitoring preferred. BCLS (AHA) required upon hire and maintain current. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS); required within 30 days of hire. Proficient computer skills.
