Senior Residential Counselor
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: Responsible for ensuring that the overall program operations are in order. Recruit and hire Program Staff. Ensure that staff maintains a safe and comfortable environment for residents. REPORTS TO: Program Supervisor SUPERVISES: Residential Counselors in collaboration with Program Supervisor I. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Understand and interpret to staff and residents, the Program's policies, routines, and regulations Maintain a positive healthy environment Maintain an awareness of residents' emotional, physical and spiritual needs and refer her to other team members (when necessary) to meet those needs. Recruit and hire Program staff in consultation with the Program Supervisor Schedule staff coverage Supervise and evaluate residential counselors in provision of duties. Attend in-service training sessions, staff meetings, and seminars as required by the agency for continued growth and development of skills. Ensure all staff receive proper training and maintain records of training Ensure that staff maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents Attend weekly staff meetings and other meetings assigned Compile and submit required reports in accordance with OASAS and SCO Family of Services requirements Comply with payroll guidelines for approval and submission of time for staff. Reconcile purchase cards and petty cash Ensure residents have necessary documents to apply for DSS benefits, document rent received, document and disperse personal needs allowance. Coordinate food shopping for the programs. Oversee ordering of all necessary supplies. Collaborate effectively to assure adequate and professional services for residents. Work with the inter-disciplinary team in the provision of all job duties. Perform other duties as assigned. II. QUALIFICATIONS: Degree in Human Services and/or at least two years experience in a substance abuse setting. NYS Drivers License Acceptable clearance checks for State Central Register, Driver's license and fingerprinting as required by the program. Compliance with health regulations for physical/mantoux testing. III. RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHERS: Ability to set limits and maintain helping role of practitioner and to intervene appropriately. Lead with a sense of shared governance; listening to all stakeholders Work with a sense of social responsibility; taking initiative to create a positive work environment for all Communicate openly, respectfully, and intentionally Illustrate emotional intelligence by acknowledging the importance of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Possess a strong belief in people's ability to grow and change; forge a mutually respectful partnership with persons served and their families.
