Responsible for supporting lending efforts by underwriting new and renewed loans. Serves as a trained credit underwriter and works with loan types including agricultural, commercial, industrial, and commercial real estate transactions. Underwrites transactions of varying complexity (generally carry total Credit Union commitments "TCE" up to $24MM). Completes annual reviews, performs financial statement analysis and completes global debt service calculations. Essential Job Functions Underwrites business and commercial department loan requests with total credit exposure (TCE) up to $24MM. Performs annual reviews, financial spreads and global debt service calculations. Ensures loan requests are underwritten consistently and in accordance with the Credit Union's credit policies, procedures and standards. Manages assigned credit transactions, ensuring the loan requests are handled efficiently and processed in a timely manner, consistent with the Credit Union's standards. Communicates with lenders, credit officers and management regarding specifics concerning approved and declined loans. Tracks, monitors, and reports activity on loan applications and decisions, including maintaining a record of loan applications received and booked. Maintains the independence of the underwriting function and the recommendation of the initial credit risk rating. Regularly exercises discretion and judgment in the performance of essential job functions. Maintains good punctuality and attendance to work. Follows Credit Union policy, procedures and guidelines. 4 years of credit underwriting, financial analysis/management and/or lending work experience required, preferably including: commercial and industrial; owner-occupied commercial real estate; accounts receivable/inventory; and commercial and residential 'For Sale' and 'Income' properties. Agricultural lending Formal commercial credit training either from a commercial bank management training program or external provider, such as RMA or Omega, preferred. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally. Working Conditions of this Position Few. No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions except during construction wearing a hard hat is required. Mental Activities and Requirements of this Position Reasoning Ability: The ability to use common sense or logic. Detailed: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions and to deal with problems involving many variables. Mathematical Ability: Basic Ability to perform basic math skills including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing two-digit numbers; operations with units such as inch, foot, yard; ounce, pound (or their metric counterparts), and square footage; ability to understand appraisals, compute rent rates and lease expiration times. Language Ability: The level of ability required to communicate and understand written and oral language.
