Quantum Engineer, Design Calibration

As a Quantum Engineer in the quantum integrated circuit design team, you will play a critical role in our design, fabrication and test flywheel. Through comprehensive, robust analyses of large, ever-expanding datasets obtained from existing quantum processors and test devices, you will extract relevant empirical calibrations to improve the accuracy of our processor design and the performance of subsequent generations of processors. You will develop software infrastructure to streamline and automate these analyses to accelerate learning cycles. Finally, you will collaborate closely with researchers and engineers across Rigetti to monitor and improve fabrication yield, and improve the models and infrastructure used to predict processor performance from foundry monitor data. Key Responsibilities

Improve the correlation between room temperature metrology data and processor performance at cryo-temperatures through experimental investigations, and theoretical and numerical modeling of Josephson junctions. Utilize techniques and best practices in statistical analysis and machine learning to accurately calibrate various processor design parameters, leveraging the large datasets generated from measurements on our quantum processors and dedicated baselining and monitoring devices. Design and implement industry quality software infrastructure to streamline feedback from measurement to the integrated circuit design team. Collaborate closely with engineers and scientists at Rigetti's quantum foundry to monitor and improve fabrication yield, and identify the highest yielding candidate processors for subsequent test and deployment. Required Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Masters degree relevant to quantum information science or 4+ years of relevant work experience. Strong background in statistics and the analysis of large data sets. Undergraduate-level knowledge of circuit theory (design and analysis of electrical circuits). Programming skills in Python for scientific applications, ideally in an industry or highly collaborative environment. Experience collaborating with experimentalists to analyze & interpret experimental data. Ability to excel in a collaborative environment. Excellent communication skills. Nice to Have

PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Knowledge and/or direct experience in any of these areas: Superconducting physics, Josephson junction physics and fabrication techniques, Radio-frequency engineering, Integrated circuit design, Circuit quantum electrodynamics, Superconducting qubits. Experience in a technical role within an industry or startup environment $120,000 - $150,000 a year Rigetti complies with all local and state regulations in regards to displaying salary ranges. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work experience, skills, and geographic location. Rigetti offers a full slate of benefits from competitive salaries, equity, medical, dental and vision for employees as well as a 401(k) plan, a paid parental leave program, rejuvenation days, and a vacation policy that aligns with local regulations and industry standards. As engineering leaders, we value diversity and are committed to building a culture of inclusion to attract and engage innovative thinkers. Our technology, meant to serve all of humanity, cannot succeed if those who built it do not mirror the diversity of the communities we serve. Applications from women, minorities, and other under-represented groups are encouraged.
