Essential Functions
Receives correspondence from appellants seeking to file an appeal with the Board. Reviews and edits information on record against the submitted and cross-checks documents submitted to ensure accuracy and te appropriate identification of property in question. Enters such information as date appeal receive, appellant name, property identification number, county, township, disputed amounts, and year of appeal to generate docket numbers for future tracking of appeal. If appellant is not the property owner, adds the property owner as a potential intervenor by entering such information as name, address, phone number, and attorney of record. Notes possible duplicate appeals or appeals potentially pending from prior years. Generates correspondence for such Board actions as acknowledgements, incomplete appeals, county notifications, and extensions to the appellant, county, potential intervenor, or State’s Attorney; in the case of dismissals or defaults. Ensures that clearance has been obtained from a hearing officer or supervisor before notices are issued. Selects the applicable transaction screen in accordance with the appeal status and type of letter to be generated. Enters corresponding docket numbers and reviews information to identify possible errors or process inaccuracies before submitting it to the system. Closes out dockets where the Board has issued a decision; updates appeals system and generates cover letters to the appropriate parties. Provides customer service by responding to requests from taxpayers, lawyers, state and local officials, and potential intervenors for forms or other information. Performs other duties as required or assigned that are reasonably within the scope of those enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of high school and two years of office experience. Requires skill in typing accurately at 45 w.p.m.
