TCEQ Intern - Mickey Leland Internship Program

This position is an entry level, temporary/seasonal position. The position will primarily assist and work in a variety of situations, projects, and assignments. Tasks and functions normally assigned to this level are generally routine in nature and any deviations or decisions from routine are generally assisted or approved by upper level staff. NOTE: This position is intended for seasonal part-time employees. Employee benefits for vacation, sick leave, pension, hospitalization, life insurance, and other benefits provided to permanent employees of the Authority are not provided to employees hired for this position. It is stipulated that the seasonal part-time status should not extend longer than three to nine (3-9) months. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Participate in regular communications with TRA management. Participate in project team meetings and discussions on budget instructions and planning. Prepare graphs, charts, and exhibits. Develop and maintain databases. Communicate data distribution. Performs review of data in existing budget spreadsheets. Assist with reviewing budgets. Recalculating information to confirm accuracy. Develop flow charts and instructions for budget process. Assist with file organization. Assist with review and proper disposal of applicable documents. Develop knowledge of Authority Document Management System. Assist with importing data in LINKO software regarding site sampling plans for industries and POE's, the IU survey and Data Trending of the WWTP's. Assist with assigned clerical tasks to include file/document storage. Organize, promote, and conduct outreach activities which may include public speaking. Assist with and/or perform website and social media updates. Conduct public awareness campaigns which may require research. Initiate community collaboration and community education programs. Attend community fairs and other community events, i.e., Earth Day events. Assist with development of materials for public awareness campaigns, community education programs, community events and other communication initiatives as needed. Participate in project team meetings and discussions on Maintenance instructions and planning as well as Maximo Steering Committee and Infrastructure Condition Assessment Team Meetings. Assist with implementation of Infrastructure Condition Assessment Application. Assist with file organization. Assist TRA staff with identifying gaps with past plant projects and current needs. Assist with Failure Codes Implementation as needed, inventory of Maintenance office staff assets and inputting data into Maximo for E&E and Maintenance Departments in addition to maintaining and updating items on Rehab Master List. Assisting with project Recycling Program. Qualifications Education: Two or more years of college courses in the area required by the position. Experience: Coursework in the area required by the position. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Texas driver's license. Knowledge: Basic knowledge in area required by the position. Knowledge of basic mathematical calculations. Skills And Abilities: Must have good attention to detail. The ability to prepare graphs, charts, exhibits, and understand spreadsheets, budgets and prioritization tools may be required. Must be able to evaluate situations and analyze problems to make decisions necessary for corrective measures with some direction. Guidance Received: Receives ongoing detailed supervision and standard procedures. Follows standard procedures and/or detailed instructions for each task or assignment; any situation that calls for something different is referred to a supervisor or more senior position. Working Conditions Duties are almost always carried out in an office environment. Some field work may be required. Tools And Equipment Used Office equipment, Microsoft Office Suite.
