Powertrain Development Lab Team Member
Polaris is looking for qualified candidates to join the Powertrain Development Lab team. Collaborate with a passionate team of experts to develop/test new powertrain technologies and ensure their seamless integration into the vehicle. Daily tasks will include instrumenting engines and vehicles, collecting data in the lab and in the field, independently conducting testing and writing reports, building engines/swapping engine components, and operating a chassis dynamometer. A successful candidate for this role will be able to demonstrate a history of high-quality work with minimal direct supervision. They will have experience working in dynamic and flexible environments, being able to identify issues and taking ownership of outcomes. Setup and update test engine hardware for testing - instrument engine/vehicle as specified. Collect, interpret, and analyze data generated from testing. Responsible for the quality and integrity of data generated. Setup and operate data acquisition and associated software. Create, maintain, and improve test processes and procedures. Operate a chassis dynamometer in a development test cell. Maintain a well-organized clean work area that meets OSHA requirements and 5S Methods. Maintain strict confidentiality. Perform other duties as assigned. Technical degree related to engines and/or minimum of 8 years of experience with powertrain or vehicle testing. Attention to detail. Process oriented. Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills. Understanding of internal combustion engines and fuel injection systems. Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting/diagnosing skillset. Exposure to ETAS INCA, or similar software packages. Knowledge of fuel injection and ignition calibration, mapping, and tuning. Experience with vehicle electrical systems, wiring, and reading schematics. Understanding of automotive testing, dynamometers, and engine controls. Awareness of temperature, pressure, and flow data collection. Fabrication, machining, and welding skills. Computer skills required; Microsoft Windows/Excel/Word, digital photography. Fast paced testing in a professional laboratory environment. Working around machinery, engines, moving parts, and hazardous chemicals. Ability to lift 50lbs. Ability to obtain Motorcycle Endorsement if not already endorsed. The starting pay range for Minnesota is $25.48 to $33.65 per hour, plus eligibility for overtime. Individual pay and positioning within the range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography. While individual pay could fall anywhere in the range based on these factors, it is not common to start at the high end or top of the range. To qualify for this position, former employees must be eligible for rehire, and current employees must be in good standing.
