What this job involves The Electrical Maintenance Supervisor must have knowledge of industry standards, local electrical and building codes, and the ability to apply knowledge to maintenance and testing of campus electrical systems. Ability to read, interpret, and understand engineering drawings and specifications. Your day-to-day tasks will include: Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures using hand tools and power tools Maintain and repair large motors, equipment, and control systems in campus factory areas Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate breakdown causes and implement corrections Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, and other electrical components Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, repair needs, and ensure code compliance Test electrical systems and circuit continuity using testing devices (ohmmeters, voltmeters, oscilloscopes) to ensure system safety Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine wiring, fixture, and equipment locations while ensuring conformance to specifications and building codes Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements (EPA/OSHA), safety programs, and audit standards Providing emergency response support and implementing comprehensive emergency procedures Physical Requirements: Perform labor and general maintenance activities. Required to regularly lift up to 50 lbs., carry and adjust heavy objects. The sensory demands include exposure to the smells and sounds characteristic of an industrial work environment. The ability to safely climb ladders, work at elevation from ladders, scaffolding, lifts, roofs or platforms, and the ability to work in confined spaces. Desired experience and technical skills Required: U.S. citizenship is required for this position due to contract requirements. High school diploma or equivalent; 5+ years of facilities maintenance experience 2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience NFPA Certification Skilled in use of electrical and handheld diagnostic equipment, hand tools, power tools, and specialized tools required to execute the position responsibilities. Familiar with computer equipment, and capable of operating or learning specialized computer software systems Working knowledge of all current facility code requirements and standards Thorough knowledge of building systems The job requires regular operation of standard office equipment, and hand tools. Strong interpersonal and management skills Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, E-Mail and CMMS software Availability for on-call emergency response Preferred: Technical College or Trade Program is preferred, Journeyman Electrician Experience with electrical systems working in an Industrial facilities environment Location: On-site Wilmington, NC If this job description resonates with you, we encourage you to apply, even if you don't meet all the requirements.
